“Renowned throughout the world, The Priory Hospital offers treatment for all aspects of acute psychiatric conditions including anxiety, depression and schizophrenia, with special programmes for the treatment of eating disorders, alcoholism, drug abuse and stress related disorders.
The Eating Disorder Unit consists of 14 bedrooms on three floors. Most of the patients are aged from 14 yrs to 25 yrs old. The minimum age is 12 yrs and occasionally patients are over 30 yrs. Although the large majority of patients are female, the unit is also able to cater for males with eating disorders.
The Priory Hospital is recognised by BUPA, PPP and most other insurers and provident associations. In some instance patients may be admitted under the NHS and paid for by local health authorities. This is only likely if the facilities needed are not available locally or if there is a shortage of beds available within the NHS at the time.
