Possible Programs of Treatment.

• Hospitalization (Inpatient treatment).

• Outpatient Treatment—this form of treatment can be integrated with a 12-step program to prevent relapse. Even as the patient is not hospitalized, he/she must be observed and tested for drugs methodically. Substance rehabilitation as well as outpatient detoxification can be required.

• Day Treatment

• Residential Programs (may refer to Therapeutic Boarding Schools, Therapeutic Wilderness Programs, or  Residential Treatment Centers)

Outpatient Treatment
This approach of treatment does not necessitate hospitalization but offers curative intervention to patients requiring therapy for disorders. Not only does this form of treatment help with those needing a preliminary evaluation of counseling but  also with those who require follow-through support for whatever programs they may have accomplished.

This type of treatment is geared towards those patients who have a firm commitment towards renewal, because of the clear perseverance needed by the patient in order to truly succeed in attaining a lasting wellness. This type of therapy may offer both one-on-one and group therapy sessions (which may involve family members). Those with mental disorders or psychiatric problems should seek other forms of treatment. Also, outside support of the afflicted must have a firm foundation in order to further recovery.

Day Treatment

Day treatment is often used when grave emotional issues are at hand. It is meant to guide a patient with dealing with his own actions and improving destructive behavior patterns. This type of therapy is for those who find outpatient treatment unsuccessful but do not require critical monitoring. With this type of treatment, a teenager’s normal activities may still function but with a stronger valley of support. Day treatment may consist of one-on-one therapy and/or group therapy (with possible family involvement), with a focus on rehabilitation and intervention.

In a day treatment program, a teenager receives the needed support without the atmosphere of a hospital/medical facility. The teen’s issues are given specialized focus.
