Specialty program for defiant teens - 2006/09/01 01:23 My teenager has just recently returned from a specialty program for defiant teens. All he can tell me is that he felt miserable while he was there. I want to believe that the program must have had some positive influence or effect on him, but it’s hard to think this way with the stories he has been telling me. I’m scared to ever enter him in another program again. Did I just choose the wrong program for my teenager? Or is he just not the type who responds well to these types of programs for defiant teens?

Re:Specialty program for defiant teens - 2006/09/01 01:25 Your teenager’s first time in a program for defiant teens will definitely be an experience he will have to adjust to. His response isn’t abnormal. You should not be discouraged from further specialty programs for troubled teenagers because of this experience. If you want another opinion, talk directly to the counselors supervising the program itself to find out more about what goes on in the program. A defiant teen may definitely be a hard shell to crack, and initial resistance is completely normal. Again, do not let this discourage you from further programs that may be beneficial for your troubled teen.

Re:Specialty program for defiant teens - 2007/03/16 11:30 My 15 year old son says the same thing when we force him to counseling. He makes it sound like the counselors are mean in an attempt to pursuade us not to send him again. In our case it's just and act. I have not being able to find a specialty program like the one you are talking about, in our area. How did you find such program?
