Coping with a Teenager on Drugs - 2008/06/19 02:38 Hello everyone,
It is very hard to know where to turn or what to do when your teen is on drugs. I have been living this particular struggle for over five years now with no end in sight. You are not alone in this. Many many parents are going through the same struggles. I can only offer you my advice on how I have survived this ordeal.

Best wishes.

Re:Coping with a Teenager on Drugs - 2008/07/30 03:30 I am currently facing my son's substance abuse and subsequent problems. Like many parents, we thought we could guide and counsel him ourselves, however nothing is working. He is 18 and graduated high school (thank goodness) but has spent his 18th year getting in trouble. He has been arrested for possession of marijuana & intent to distribute-though charges were dropped for lack of evidence. He had other charges & was allowed into a pre-trial intervention program. Not 2 weeks later he was arrested for DUI. Then yesterday the police were at my house with him searching his car. Apparently he has been breaking into cars & stealing & selling. He is very good at twisting conversations around, he says we are overreacting(!) and he can stop whenever he wants.I finally got an appointment for an assessment after 2 weeks on-line & on the phone trying to get him help. We finally got up the courage to say if you want us to help you-you must seek and remain in treatment. Anything else you can suggest?
I am heartbroken.
