My son has been cutting himself. His cuts don’t appear to be suicidal, but it’s as if he finds some release in hurting himself. He has slashes on his left arm almost leading up to his wrists. Every time he cuts we go through the same scenario, I can’t help but cry my eyes out seeing my own child hurt himself and he promises not to do it again but somehow we always end up back where we began—in his room with my arms wrapped around him, sobbing because of another cut. I’ve practically locked up all the items that he could hurt himself with, because I know his judgment gets impaired when he feels the frenzied rush of wanting to hurt him self. But he still finds ways to hurt himself.
