Concerning your son’s curfew issues, at least a week of suspending him from engaging in the activity he likes or taking it away may prove to be more effective than, for example, turning his phone off for a couple days. From your description of the scenario, pulling your son’s privileges and letting him earn them back may take more effect then simply suspending them for a couple days at a time. If you choose this route of discipline, it may also have a positive long-lasting or long-term effect on his behavior in general. The rules and corresponding punishment you create should further define his acceptable mode of behavior. Choose forms of discipline which you think can be most beneficial for your teen in order to create an environment that will put his defiance under control.
