DESPERSATE FOR HELP WITH TEEN - 2007/03/22 14:03 HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE A 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND SHE IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!! SHE WON'T MIND, LISTEN TO ANYTHING I HAVE TO SAY, BACK TALKS, EVERYTHING SHE DOES IS NONE OF MY BUSINESS, SHE THINKS SHE IS GOING TO COME AND GO FROM HOME AS SHE PLEASES AND CAN ARGUE YOU UNDER THE TABLE!!!!!! I HAVE HAD HER IN THERAPY, TOOK HER TO THE JUVINEL OFFICE AND HAD HER TALK TO HER, HAD HER TO SENT TO A BEHAVIROAL FACILITY SHE WAS THERE FOR LIKE 2 WEEKS, KICKED HER OUT ONLY TO HAVE TO LET HER COME BACK HOME BECAUSE THE LAWYER SAID IT COUOLD BE CONSIDERED ABANDAMENT, EVEN TOOK HER TO THE POLIECE STATION AND LET AN OFFICER TALK TO HER AND TELL HER THAT SHE IS NOT 18 AND SHE HAS TO DO AS I SAY AND IF I HAVE PROBLEMS THEN I CALL THEM, SHE HAS BEEN ON SEVERAL DEPRESSION MEDICINES AND SO FAR NOTHING HAS SEEMED TO HELP. MY HUSBAND IS OVERSEAS IN THE MILITARY AND I JUST CAN NOT HANDEL 9 MORE MONTHS OF THIS, EVEN WHEN SHE TURNS 18 SHE WILL STILL HAVE A FEW MORE MONTHS OF SCHOOL BEFORE SHE GRADUATES. ANY ADVICE OR SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS

Re:DESPERSATE FOR HELP WITH TEEN - 2007/03/22 22:18 The period of adolescence can be readily associated with rebellion. Setting boundaries is a healthy way to manage attitude issues. Sometimes setting limits will cause immediate effects on your teen’s behavior, but most of the time, it won’t. It takes time. But if her behavior persists, you may opt to try another manner of disciplining her. Try to get close to her, make her feel comfortable with you, and when you’ve sensed that you’ve reached her-- instead of demanding certain actions, make “suggestions” like a friend. Try it out! By choosing this approach, you may actually catch her by surprise because of all the negativity she is letting out since you will be giving her a positive breath of fresh air. Communication is gold.
