Thinking that outside help would make her think more about it, yesterday our daughter was talked to by a member of juvenile affairs regarding the 19 year old and skipping class. She promised that she would not skip anymore and she would break it off with the 19 year old and get marriage out of her mind. When she was taken back to school, we find out that she and the boy skipped the last two classes together. Her grades are lowering to the D range. He has been talked to by school officials about leaving her alone but he said "I'm not going to leave her alone."
We contacted juvenile affairs and told him what happened after we left his office. He said that society seems to cater to kids nowdays and if you tell a child "no", then you are cruel. Oh, and he also mentioned to lighten up on her. ?????!!!!! So do we just sit back and let her fail and skip with no punishment? What help is out there for us?! She is obviously on the road to failure in school. She won't listen to reason. She hates rules and she won't follow them because as she says "I don't want to." I'm so upset, I want to cry.
